Sewing Machine

Day #175
Heart #158

Pink is one of my favorite colors, but it can be tricky to get it right...which is probably why I haven't seen any all-pink sewing machines.  I thought I would try out a pink sewing machine in felt--and I think it looks cute--as a scissors fob, anyway!  (Now that I see these pictures, I think it might have looked better on a light-colored backgrouond.  You may see "Sewing Machine #2" tomorrow!)

Yesterday, on my other blog (Leslie's Art and Sew) I did a review of the baker's twine I'm using in these fobs, and the store it came from.  Click on the name of the blog, above, if you would like to read it.

Four-Leaf Clover

Day #173
Heart #156

I've always enjoyed searching for four-leaf clovers (and I'm good at finding them too!)  Hopefully, I won't have to search for my scissors with this wool felt scissors fob attached to them!

For those who are wondering, yes, my pint-size canning jar is quickly filling up with these fobs!  In about a week I expect it to be overflowing and I will show it to you then.

Kiwi

Day #165
Heart #146

My friend Diane wanted to see a kiwi-slice scissors fob, because kiwis are her favorite fruit.  Here ya go, Diane!  This is for you!

If anyone else has a suggestion for a fob, please leave it in a comment below.  I have more than 200 hearts left in this challenge!  Help!!

Another friend, Mareth (aka Lime Riot) wondered where I got the baker's twine I've been using in these fobs.  Earlier this year I purchased this wonderful assortment from Talking Twine and Trim on Etsy.  I didn't know what I would use it for, but I knew I wanted it.  This is 10 yards each of 18 different colors.  This is very nice, heavy-weight twine, and I highly recommend it!

Pretty and Practical

Day #154
Heart #126

In my ongoing quest to come up with hearts that aren't just pretty, but also have a function, I had a lightbulb-over-the-head moment last night:  scissors fobs!

A scissors fob serves two purposes:  it helps you locate/identify your scissors (which is useful in a group setting, like a quilt retreat, where everyone has scissors on the table--but I'm sure I will like having a little help spying my scissors in the confusion on top of my sewing table!); and it is a tiny pincushion.  This one is 1 1/2 inches wide.

This fob is made of wool felt and cotton embroidery thread; the string is baker's twine.

There will be PLENTY more of these here in the coming weeks!  This one was so fun and quick to make, that I want to make more, more more!
